The basic oxygen steelmaking operation is comprised of two vessels, each capable of tapping 250 tonne heats of low-carbon or high-strength steel.
The operation is equipped with a RH-OB vacuum degasser, the only one in Canada, for producing ultra-low-carbon superformable steel, and a ladle trim station for alloying and chemical treating.
The twin-strand continuous caster produces slabs of 240mm thickness, widths from 1130mm to 2030mm and lengths of 7.0m to 10.1m.
